Telling Pattern, the first release from Broken Every Angle, tells the autobiographical story of a journey, both physically and emotionally by the artist. Written on borrowed guitars, in living rooms and long stay motels, in a time period of aimless world wandering, then refined and adorned in the artists' blossoming studio production practice, the songs have a detached, meandering, patchwork quality to them.
Centered around themes of wandering, finding shelter, a sense of being inside and outside at the same time, Telling Pattern weaves through myriad production styles, instrumentation, and compositional approaches.Â
The album takes the format of an abstracted storybook zine written with collaged images and text, each song in the 9-track album has a corresponding page of the zine.
